Dissertia (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to safeguarding your personal data and respecting your privacy. This Privacy and Data Protection Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we process it, the legal bases under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the rights available to you. We are based in Berlin, Germany, and fully dedicated to GDPR compliance. As part of our mission, we publish open-access articles, podcasts, and related academic resources based on thesis and dissertation summaries submitted to us.

Account Information: name, email address, password, country of residence, language preference, institutional affiliation, discipline/field of study. 1.2. Profile Data (optional): ORCID iD, professional links (e.g., Academia.edu, ResearchGate), short bio, areas of research interest, social media. 1.3. Submissions & Uploads: manuscripts, thesis/dissertation summaries, podcasts, CVs/publication lists, images, and other materials you submit for publication. 1.4. Usage Data: information on how you interact with our platform, referral sources, and preferred services.
2. Purposes of Processing
Your personal data may be processed for the following purposes: 2.1. To register and manage your account. 2.2. To facilitate submission, peer-quality publishing, and editorial communication. 2.3. To produce, index, and disseminate open-access articles and podcasts. 2.4. To enable networking and collaboration across disciplines. 2.5. To improve our services and platform functionality. 2.6. To comply with statutory and contractual obligations.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Under GDPR, our processing relies on the following bases: 3.1. Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): for optional profile fields, cookies, communications, and networking features. 3.2. Contractual necessity (Art. 6(1)(b)): to deliver services after you register and submit content. 3.3. Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): where law requires record-keeping or compliance. 3.4. Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): to improve services, ensure security, and promote academic dissemination.
4. Data Sharing & International Transfers
4.1. We do not sell your personal data. 4.2. Limited data may be shared with carefully selected service providers (e.g., hosting, analytics, IT support), bound by confidentiality and GDPR-compliant agreements. 4.3.
